My Story
On May 4, 2021 my only child, my beautiful daughter Nairobi Jewel Farve, took her own life at the tender age of 13. Nairobi was such a social butterfly, when she walked into a room you saw her bright smile and her funny sense of humor. She loved to play basketball and volleyball, swimming, and hanging out with her friends and family. She had many talents but where she shined the most was in theater at school. She loved being the center of attention on stage and giving you the “Nairobi” performance. Nairobi was a fast learner and whenever her mind was set on something, she learned it on her own. One of my fondest memories of this is when she was in her first play at school, she memorized the entire script in only a few weeks. Nairobi was known for her strong-willed spirit and she “pushed” through negative circumstances.
No one can really teach you how to be a parent–there isn’t a step by step guide on the best way to be a parent. Some of us raise our children the way we were raised, and we incorporate our parents’ teachings into our parenting. Raising children is the hardest job we’ll ever have on this earth, and it comes with providing complete and total love, unwavering support, and encouragement. It also comes with challenges, uncertainty, unpredictability, and disappointments, but everything we do for our children is through and from LOVE.
As I continue on this grieving journey I didn’t realize how many parents are experiencing some of the exact same things I was experiencing before Nairobi passed away. As I’ve had time to reflect on the past year, I realized that there were “Red Flags” around Nairobi’s Suicide that I’d like to share with you. Although these were noticed, they were dismissed rather than recognized as warnings.

Our Mission
Our mission is to empower communities, schools and parents with tools to educate, prevent and protect students from suicide.
Our Vision
Teen Suicide is far too common and often never spoken about in families. The process of speaking up may make you feel ashamed, scared, guilty- or worse, retraumatized. Speaking up also comes with its own set of personal, emotional, and spiritual challenges. We are living in different times with our youth today and it’s far more dangerous than back in my days. Our students are struggling to deal with so many different challenges in life, from cyber bullying, gender shaming, peer on peer bullying, depression and family life traumas. Cyber bullying attacks continue to grow at higher rate each year and teen suicides are on the uprise. Why does our youth think suicide is the only option when faced with adversity?
We want to change that equation by empowering students, parents, schools and communities, by changing knowledge, behaviors and attitudes.
F.A.S.S. is a place where students can be free to be themselves, a place where we focus on Self-Esteem Building, creating an Anti-Judgement Zone, learning Anti-Bullying techniques, appropriate Social Media dialog, and students with signs of depression or suicidal tendencies can get referred to the right resources. We are a faith based organization that leads with love, support and encouragement for everyone.

Our Goals
We want to develop and establish effective, sustainable suicide prevention trainings, and create peer-to-peer support groups. We will collaborate with public and private partners to advance suicide prevention, including schools, faith-based communities, and other organizations that focus on healthy habits and mental health. We want to end the suicidal crisis that is tormenting our youth and help keep students safe. Saving one STUDENT at a TIME.
With the proper funding we can focus on:
- Supporting schools with education and training to address pervasive violence
- Helping train teachers on suicide prevention and signs of suicidal behaviors
- Promoting outreach in the community
- Increasing communication efforts via social media that promote positive messages and support safe intervention strategies
- Increasing knowledge of warning signs for suicide and how to connect youth in crisis with resources
